Our Story

In the late 1970's Don Harris, brother of Arthur Harris, started a small used furniture store in the Fairview community of Rossville. That store, Fairview Furniture, was the seeds of what would one day become H & H Furniture.

Seeing an opportunity for higher visibility, Don moved to the downtown district in Rossville in the early 1980's and changed the name of the business to Harris Furniture.

Don's brother, Arthur, had been buying and selling furniture over the years, often selling on a consignment basis at his brother’s shop. In January of 1984 Arthur and friend Don Hale purchased Harris Furniture from Don Harris and changed the name to H & H Furniture. Don Hale would later sell his stake of the business to Arthur but stayed on as Arthur grew the business. In 1985, Arthur brought his son Teddy into the business and he became the general manager.

1987: a year of transformation and new opportunities.

Tragedy struck H & H Furniture on the morning of March the 19th, 1987. A fire consumed the entire block in downtown Rossville, leaving H & H in a smoking heap. Not to be discouraged by this misfortune, Arthur soon secured a new home for H & H Furniture, moving H & H back to the location where Fairview Furniture was born, in essence taking the store back to its roots. On August 7th, 1987, the doors of H & H were opened at 2007 McFarland Avenue and new and used furniture and appliances were once again being sold.

In 2011, grandson Ben Harris began a third generation at H & H Furniture. By 2022, Ben began honing the focus of the business toward antiques and fine furniture, marketing these items to a nationwide audience while still retaining a selection of affordable vintage furniture and good major appliances.
